Procrastination.

So I have a serious problem with procrastination. It's bad. If there is a paper due on Monday morning, I never start it until 8pm Sunday night at the earliest. If it's due in the afternoon I typically write it the day it's due. AND IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW LONG THEY ARE!! 2 pages...8 pages...always last minute. I can never find the motivation to get them done unless it's total crunch time. And as much as it stresses me out, I do much better on them! I got 3 papers back today. Two of them were written the night before and scored 100% on both. The other was a 7 page midterm that I was really nervous about because I started it the night before. But because it wasn't due until 4 the next day, I couldn't finish it. So I finished the midterm (which was a HUGE part of my grade) 30 minutes before it was due and got a 99% on it. With results like this why on earth would I not put it off??
It's more than papers though. If I go home before going to Dee's and say I have to shower before going back over there, he has learned that doddling is inevitable. Things just distract me too easily...facebook, listening to music, eating, catching up on a missed show, or now blogging. It's not that I try to be late! Other things just get in the way of what needs to be done and help feed the procrastination issue. The whole ADD thing probably doesn't help either but that's a different story.
Another thing. I LOATHE putting laundry away. Cleaning clothes? Fine. Folding them? Fine. Hanging them up or putting them in the dresser? KILL ME NOW! No idea what the deal is, but it's awful. Right now I have 7 laundry baskets of clean clothes that have to be put in their proper place. And what am I doing? Blogging about it.
It seems like a time always comes along when stuff HAS to be done. So why not just wait until that point hits? People typically don't fill up their car until the gas light turns on, don't buy food if they haven't run out, or don't do homework that isn't due for another couple days. It's okay waiting until the last minute, as long as stuff gets done when it absolutely needs to.
But on the flip side, I am very spontaneous and do most things without thinking. If there is something I really want to buy...hello impulse purchase. Or doing something that seems fun, it almost always happens. The song "Why Wait" by Rascal Flatts is one of my favorites because it is all about just doing something that feels right and figuring out the rest later. If I ever think "I wonder what would happen if..." or "I really want to..." most of the time those things happen. Don't worry, I'm still smart about it and do put a little bit of thought into serious consequences. But it is just a more fun way to live.
So the conclusion here is: Not fun things should be put off for as long as possible. And fun or random things should just happen...because whether it turns out good or bad, there's probably an interesting story and a lasting memory that can come out of it.

Sorry this turned out to be a novel.

Where'd you go? I miss you so. Seems like it's been forever since you've been gone.

It is the second week of spring, there's one month left of school, it's almost April, and this is the weather. It was a blizzard today! SOOO not okay with me. I love winter. Snow is beautiful and you get to cuddle by the fire and drink hot chocolate. Plus playing in the snow is fun! But after the first 5 months I'm pretty much over it. BRING ON THE SUN! No more cold, no more wet shoes and pants, no more snow. With only one month left until summer break, the weather really needs to start cooperating.

So here are some things I love about summer:
  • Tan lines - Being tan is my favorite!! Everything is better when you've got a little color, and then I never feel like I have to wear make up. Win win!
  • Boating - Whether with family or friends (or both) boating is so much fun! I could just sit on the boat and not move all day. Just driving around, tubing, attempting to wakeboard, or just sitting as it rocks with the waves. Being on a boat listening to music is heaven. Bear Lake, Jordanelle, Powell, even Utah Lake...can't wait.
  • Driving with the windows down and the sun roof open - This is my favorite stress reliever. I love driving in general but add a little country music with my hand out the window, wearing sunglasses as the rays hit my face. Bliss.
  • Lemonade Pie - Most do not know what this is but if you like pink lemonade and ice cream you'd like this. It is the best summer snack.
  • Hiking - I'm not the best or most avid hiker...but I still really enjoy it! This summer I want to hike to Mt. Timpanogos cuz it has been a million years since I did it last. So I'm excited to be able to get out and hike a little bit, even if it kills me.
  • Lake Powell - This could be one of my most favorite places in the world! I have been lucky enough to go every year for 9ish years now! Some of my best memories have been at Bullfrog. Dee and I had our first kiss in Powell and there is only one other place that can match the stars when you're laying on the houseboat in the middle of the lake. It's amazing.
  • Bonfires and BBQ's - Nothing beats getting a group of people together and going up the canyon for burgers and s'mores. Ledgemere up Big Cottonwood is one of the best...and not only because that's where I met Dee.
  • Sprinklers - Running through sprinklers, kissing in sprinklers, the smell of the sidewalk after the sprinklers have gotten them wet. Love.
  • Parks - It sounds super childish but I love swings!! So being able to go swing and then just lay on the grass and talk is a great night in my book.
  • Popsicles - Or anything frozen really. Frozen grapes are a new favorite (thanks Sam), but I also make popsicles using grapefruit juice or there is any type of popsicle from the store...you really can't go wrong with them.
  • Flip Flops - I HATE SHOES AND SOCKS!!! They make my feet feel suffocated. It's awful. But in the summertime they're free!! I wear flip flops until it is absolutely necessary to trade them in for my snow slippers so my toes don't fall off.
  • Camping - SOOO fun! I normally only go for a night or two but camping is just great. I think it's just being able to see the stars, make a campfire, and being with friends that makes camping so much fun.
  • Hammock - The hammock in my back yard was the best investment ever. It is a great nap spot because you can lay in the sun to tan or in the shade to just be warm. Get a pillow and it's the ideal spot to sit and read for a little while. At night time you can grab a blanket and a cute boy and go lay out under the stars.
  • Night time walks - During the winter at night there isn't anything to do, but when it's warm you can just go for a lovely stroll around the block or walk to a park (to swing of course). Holding hands just walking around for no particular reason is a pretty good night.
  • Stars and Clouds - So if you haven't noticed I love looking at the sky. I make wishes on every shooting star and could sit and look at the stars for hours. Laying on the grass and making pictures out of clouds is a simple pleasure. I don't know what it is, but something about just staring into the sky gives me time to think and everything else goes quiet. Summertime skies, both day and night, are beautiful.

Sorry this ended up being a novel about summer. I'm just very excited for it. There are probably a million other amazing things about this season that have been forgotten but that'll do for now. Now that Dee and all my boys are home from their missions, this summer is going to be a blast!! I'm sure there are many surprises in store.

    Typical Saturday...

Spring break is over, it was Ninow's last day in town, and it was finally the weekend. So of course Da CR3W wanted to do something fun, but the day turned out to be quite interesting but I loved it.
All week long it has been a total guy's week. Watching basketball, playing basketball, talking about basketball, eating, and computer games. For a girlfriend, those aren't always the most exciting activities to be a spectator for. But I did it anyway.
So Saturday I got to have a little bit of alone time finally. We went out to lunch and then to see Just Go With It. It was cute AND sort of a chick flick! No explosions or anything! We got home and Dee helped make my blog look cuter and told me he would help make it better if I think of anything later. Him being a computer genius is pretty handy sometimes! After that the guys did come over to watch the Jazz game but it was okay because I like it too. Then we went bowling. Me and 10 guys. The competition with them started the second we walked in the door. Dee and I had the best wager though. Whoever lost had to decide EVERYTHING for the next date night. This was a big thing because neither of us is very decisive. So we started bowling. Most of them were so good! I couldn't believe it! There were strikes and spares left and right. I on the other hand decided to fall and slide halfway down the bowling lane. Those buggers are slippery!! Yeah...that was great. I was beating Dee by like 15 going into the 10th frame. But by some miracle I ended up getting XXX that frame. My first turkey. Not only was it amazing to KILL Dee in our competition but I got the only turkey that game and had a bunch of witnesses.  After getting food, we all went to Rally Point A to hang out and play some pool. But it ended up turning into a gab sesh while we all played each other in Words With Friends (best game ever). Dee and I decided to go to his house...which was surrounded by 12 cop cars when we got there.  His neighbors house was being held up, so we sat and watched the cops plan and then go in yelling. They had dogs and HUGE guns too. They went through each room looking for the fugitives but only found evidence. It was kind of a let down that they didn't bring someone out in hand cuffs. But Dee was so cute, he didn't want me to leave in case they started shooting each other as I was walking to my car. Not the most likely thing in Cottonwood Heights, but bless his heart. I guess he still has a little Columbus mentality. We sat at the window and watched the action until 2:30 and then I finally went home. I have a fear of people being in my house. So when I got home and saw my closet light was on, of course my first thought was "Oh my gosh, someone is hiding in my closet. The fugitives came and broke into my house and are hiding in my closet." Not the most rational thought...but whatever. So I called Dee to be on the phone when I opened the door just in case. No worries though, no bad guys. We talked for about 10 minutes and then finally went to bed.
That was my Saturday. Just another day in the life. I can never really guess what is going to happen each day but that is what keeps it interesting! And a little random thought...A kiss can fix everything. The phrase "kiss and make up" is 100% accurate. When little kids get hurt you kiss it to make things better. They have a magical healing power no matter what the circumstance. I love kisses.
